Before you read any further, let me give you the bad news right here: you’re not going to have eyebrows just like Cara Delevingne. Sorry, girls. Those caterpillars are all natural: she was born with them, and really, she doesn’t even do much to them.
Cara is a blonde, but her eyebrows are really thick, dense, and dark. That’s the reason they’re so dramatically good-looking: because they stand out so much.
The good news, though, is that we’ve now learnt what two things we need to do to get brows as beautiful as Cara’s: be natural, and have them stand out.
Now, the important thing to remember is that we don’t want something that looks too made-up. What we’re really after is a “Oh, this old thing? I woke up like this” look.
Here’s a quick, daily routine you can follow to achieve that bright-eyed and bushy-browed look:
Leave your eyebrows alone. You heard me — Put. Those. Tweezers. Down. They are now your arch enemy (heh). Now, walk away. Good job.
Thing is, a lot of us are so used to having such precisely-shaped brows that we automatically remove any stray hair that grows out. It’s time to put a stop to this madness. Cara’s brows are all about natural, relaxed, and bushy.
The exception, of course, is if they’re so unruly that you can’t even see any sort of shape. Even then, pluck with a light hand.
Brush downward. Yup, downward. What you want is to find out just how big of an area your brows can cover. So brush downward, and then pencil it very lightly to follow the outline. Add more strokes at the arch, where it should be darkest.
Brush upward and outward. This step now grooms your brow and lets you see what your actual shape is. Clean up any pencil that looks out of place, then fill in your sparse areas with brow powder. Take a spoolie and blend, blend, and blend some more.
Set. At this point, really, your eyebrows should be good to go. If they’re extra bushy, though, you might want to brush in a little brow gel to keep them in place. In a pinch, you can even spray a bit of hairspray on your spoolie and brush that through your brows.
Voila! Full, luscious, bold brows in five minutes.
