Style is as unique and individual as every woman and man. The beauty of this summer season’s relaxed racing is that you can relax your style also. It’s that time of the year when we can ditch our sky high heels and slip into a pair of ballet flats or wedges for those seeking extra height.
As a mother of two young children who love to keep me on my toes, especially at a family race day. I prefer to go comfortable. I don’t need to suffer the consequences of wearing a too higher heel which ends up digging into the grass as I’m running around like a lunatic trying to keep my children in line. And I’m not just referring to their behaviour but the “line” ups for various children’s rides available at Family Race Days.
I’m a big fan of the bohemian look, so I might just wear a maxi dress. That’s my idea of being chill and comfy chic! I find them extremely comfortable for more than one reason. I can eat the extra half a bucket of hot chips that one of my children left over and no one will notice my extra full belly, not to mention it covers up my sometimes not so primed legs!
That’s not to say I don’t wear short dresses, I absolutely do! If I’m at the track without my children I will most definitely wear a shorter dress. I love a bright floral print, it’s nice to stand out from the rest of the crowd. Keep in mind though that it can get quite hot during summer racing.
When you go shopping, you might want to be on the lookout for fabrics that will keep you cool and comfortable. I tend to stick to lightweight materials such as cotton, linen and a cotton/silk blend.
