If only I had $1 for every time someone said to me, aren’t you glad Spring racing is over ..? Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival may be done and dusted for another year but it’s still business as usual. Horses keep on working and showing up on race days in hope of winning prize money and creating history.
Perth Racing has a proud history of hosting thoroughbred racing for over 150 years. Perth is renowned for their Summer Racing Carnival held at Ascot Racecourse and the $1,000,000 Group 1 Railway Stakes, the $1,000,000 Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes, the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic, and the $500,000 Group II Perth Cup.
I will be heading west next week to join in the fun on Super Saturday. Many horses that race in Railway Stakes come via Melbourne Spring Carnival and so will Miss Rose De Lago, a mare trained by my husband, Danny. It is a Group 1 feature race run over 1600m at set weights and it’s worth $1 million.
Now ladies, if you happen to be in town and plan on going to the Perth Racing Carnival, please wear millinery! Millinery is huge in Melbourne and I would love for Perth to embrace the same. My hat is ready, set to go!
Below are a few outfit suggestions if you’re heading to the track over the Perth Racing Carnival.
